Half-Updates Are Better Than None

We fixed our videos, thanks for the report. We've also added a bunch of new content on Starbase, and made most Call Theory product documentation public!

This is a quick end-of-week update to follow up on some promises I made, as well as some of the new content that we added this week.

If you continue on, you'll learn about:

  • IS scripting training videos available/fixed
  • Mission Control documentation is public
  • Starbase Billing gateway docs/demo updates
  • Vendor defaults added to Call Theory docs
  • And we've got Call Center Village news!

IS Training Videos

We've fixed an issue that was causing our video training series to not properly deploy to the website. This essentially means that the 20+ sessions from our previous Space Camp training class are now fully available online.

For the fellow nerds, this was related to a misconfiguration in my git-lfs configuration, storage quota, and bandwidth allowance.

Mission Control Docs

The documentation for our Mission Control dashboard is now available online at learn.calltheory.com/mission-control.

No account is required to view the documentation.

This is in hopes of releasing Mission Control under a more permissive licensing scheme (Functional Source License) if Starbase proves successful from a licensing perspective.

Starbase Billing Gateway Updates

We've published a small portion of the Starbase Billing gateway documentation, but we have a lot to finish up still. I'm also auditing the data we're going to be using for demos to ensure it's been effectively anonymized.

The basic docs are available at learn.calltheory.com/starbase with more coming early next week.

After the data is audited for use with demos we will create and publish demo videos and host appointments for those interested in seeing Starbase in action.

Thanks for your patience as always!

Vendor Defaults

If you had stopped by the Call Center Village while at NAEO 2025, you would have seen that one of the challenges was to identify and update common vendor defaults.

After a customer brought it up this week, we've created a new documentation page that outlines some of the vendor-default and built-in credentials used in the Amtelco ecosystems.

Check it out and change any default passwords that you might be using.

Know of any other Amtelco or ecosystem defaults? Let us know and we're happy to document them for all customers to be aware of.

Call Center Village Contest

So, we got rejected from the DEF CON 33 Call for Villages (an expected outcome), but it looks like they might give us some space in the contest area to give things a shot! This would be an opportunity for us to really geek-out and try to win an invitation back as a full village at DEF CON 34.

We've also applied our village to Hackers Teaching Hackers 2025 and will know in a few weeks if we've gotten in there.

I'm so happy with the results of this project crazy-idea. I've learned tons of relevant security concepts, met a lot of really smart people who care about security, and been able to apply what I've learned to my development and infrastructure management practices.

For something I don't sell or monetize in any way, it's been one of my biggest successes for personal and professional growth.
